Billie's Hair

When some people have a bad day eat lots of junk food. When I have a really bad day I get a piercing or I get some new make up.
When Billie gets bored, she likes to change her hair style.
After an interesting lesson on colour theory she decided to test my ability and asked for my help to dye her hair. I had never heard of a 'colour melt' before. When she showed me a photo of what she wanted done, I almost died inside. It looked insanely difficult. I still thought that it would be a great learning curve even if it was to go wrong, thankfully Billie was of the same opinion.

Our 'melt' scheme would consist of Analogous colours.
-Purple
-Purple
-Blue
-Teal
-Pinky Purple
I didn't get involved with the bleaching process because that is one thing I'm not comfortable in doing. I've never done it before so I didn't want risk messing that part up. Billie got too excited and didn't distribute the bleach evenly so there was a slight amount of panic.
In between bleaching sessions we quickly did mine again, just the typical Red and Black that it's been for the last couple of years :) Mine was really easy compared to the Mount Everest equivalent that I'd agreed to do for Billie.

I watched a few videos on YouTube to see what I needed to do and in theory it wasn't going to be that difficult, if anything it was going to be time consuming.
I began by sectioning off her hair and applying the dark blue to her roots, then I blended this out maybe the length of a 1/3 of the section I was working on. I did this all over the head.

When I had finished this I then mixed the temporary colours with a little condition. Doing triangular sections I started with my colour palette. You have to blend the colour you are using into the blue at the roots and then just make sure the length is saturated.
I used the Pink, Purple and the Teal and cover her entire head in 1-2 inch sections. Some of the sections had a triple blend of colour.

In total (Including the bleaching) It took a back breaking 7 hours
Here are some photos of how it looked after I had applied the dye:
